1 - Previous Minutes

Minutes of the meeting of 14th December 2006 were accepted as a true record and signed by the Chair (BT)

2 - Matters Arising

None.

3 Feedback: Cemetery Trust

3.1 APAG met with the Cemetery Trust in January.
3.2 Richard Smith (Trust Chair) went through the plans for the cemetery at great length. They are comprehensive and well defined.
3.3 An early priority for the community was access to the cemetery, the Trust want a boundary fence between the cemetery and the park to assure security.
3.4 BT has written to the Trust requesting details of the proposed fence to establish manufacturer. APAG then investigate cost etc. of matching gates prior to further discussions with Trust.
3.4.1 Letter to be copied to PM.

4 History

4.1 KeT tabled “The History of Arno’s Court Park”. This to circulate the group for information and discussion. This will help inform much of APAG future work.

5 Feedback: John Knowlson

5.1 APAG met with John Knowlson (JK) and others on 25th January. See attached notes of meeting.
5.2 Agreement secured to install 5-a-side football posts in the park. Stanmore Allen (SA) to investigate pitch markings.
5.2.1 Goalposts: 5-a-side or 11-a-side—which do we want? Discuss with JK.
5.3 Kay Sibley (KS), one of two youth workers, attended 25/1 meeting. Youth workers may work-up a Youth Opportunities funding bid after working with young people in the park.
5.4 Youth bus may come to park during Easter holiday period. This to be confirmed with Sally Carter (SC).
5.5 Possibility that Bristol Parks may have funding available to invest in play area after April.
5.6 JK stated that BCC will maintain the play area if APAG improves it.
5.7 Trim-trails and outdoor multi-gyms also discussed (adults & children). This may help foster good relations with Hotel.
5.8 JK spoke about training for Play Leaders & Play Rangers who can provide opportunities for structured play activities for children.
5.9 RF pointed out that Play Rangers may already be working in areas outside of Brislington as a result of a Young Peoples Services lottery bid. TBC.

6 Review of Group Focus & Priorities

6.1 BT presented regarding priorities as per initial consultation exercise. The following came to light as a result of further discussion of the priorities.
6.1.1 We need more volunteers to cope with the workload! Emma has recruit? We will canvass all APAG contacts.
6.1.2 It was agreed to not follow up Playwatch as it is unlikely to be available.
6.1.3 To report vandalism to Bristol Parks phone 9223719.
6.1.4 Becky has spoken to PC Andy Bird. PCSO's should be starting in the area in about 5-6 weeks, may visit park to work with young people.
6.1.5 JF noted that JK has volunteered to fund fitting of seating that APAG is able to acquire.
6.1.6 Theatre event (Sarah Guppy), no progress. Put on hold, inform theatre company.
6.1.7 Path condition reviewed by JT, BT & JF. Photos taken of damage. Check Parks priorities re: path condition/risk.

7 Publicity

7.1 APAG would like to see wider circulation of "Park People" newsletter. Discuss with members of Park Forum.
7.2 We can cut & paste content (authored by RF!), but not logos, from PP for use in our own material.

8 Funding

8.1 A small funding sub-group will form to look at "what's out there".
8.2 BT will e-mail a letter to RF showing broad support/partnership.

9 Fun Day update

9.1 Date is 8th July.
9.2 Scouts & Football both confirmed.
9.3 Possible tag rugby
9.4 Event covered by Council insurance.
9.5 EC needs contact details from 2006 event participants.
9.6 EC wants to form sub-group to manage the Fun Day.
9.7 Seek Bocabar support for event.

10 AOB

10.1 We will use timelines to help manage projects (esp. capital) by setting targets & goals and also demonstrate achievements.
