Reports

1 - Previous Minutes

Minutes of the meeting of 12th March 2007 were accepted as a true record and signed by the Chair (BT)

2 - Matters Arising

2.1 The Cemetery Trust has agreed in principle to the installation of gates between the cemetery and the park.
2.2 History Report. Much positive feedback. KT continues to revise the document and will print a number (50) for availability at the fun day for donations. All additional feedback to Ken Taylor by 22/06/07.
2.3 Goal Posts. These should be installed this week or next. (After meeting note: the goal posts were installed on Friday 8th June).
2.4 Youth bus. A BYCA application is being made to provide availability of this during the summer.
2.5 Path. Repairs to the path have been priced at about £65K. The repairs have a high priority.
2.6 The park forum has requested a report from constituent groups regarding permission to enlarge circulation of "Park People". Agreed. BT to report back to forum.

3 Fun Day update
Publicity:

3.1 The poster has been designed (Thanks to JF). We require volunteers for various leafleting tasks (inc. door to door deliveries). Leaflets will also go to school book-bags.
3.2 Joules Taylor (BCP webmaster) advises she can buy APAG domain name to point to APAG page on BCP web-site. Approved. KT to advise Joules.
3.3 SA reports that he has managed to gain access to a contact in ITV West.
3.4 Quarterly meetings (such as this) mean that it is difficult to keep everyone up to date with developments. A monthly report sheet will be circulated to keep everyone aware of progress/ logjams. Deadline for copy will be end of month.
3.3 Can anyone who can spare a couple of hours on the day please contact the committee.

4 Play Equipment/Funding

4.1 RF & BM are exploring a number of sources of funding. Many grants are landfill tax related. 10% funding from BCC, 90% from the Landfill Tax source.
4.2 It is proposed to make improvements to play equipment for small children first as much of the equipment for older children is still usable.
4.3 The stand of Birch trees in the play area causes an obstruction to visibility across the play area. It is proposed to thin out the low-level scrub within this group of trees to improve visibility and child security.
4.3 Individual items of equipment will be priced and a pick-n-mix selection made, if necessary from a number of suppliers to give us the equipment we want.
4.4 SP will attempt to get funding for a new basketball hoop.

5 BCP & Respect Project

5.1 Brislington Community Partnership intends to become a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. Paperwork is going to solicitors this week.
5.2 The future of Wicklea centre now seems assured. Instructions have been issued by BCC for negotiations to begin on a 25yr lease of Wicklea to Young Bristol.
5.3 Football, Basketball & Skateboarding projects are showing great signs of success & popularity.

6 Any Other Business

6.1 There was a discussion on format/appearance of signage for the park. It was suggested that a degree of commonality with the signs used in the cemetery would be appropriate.
6.2 We have been offered a new bench for the park (John Threadgold). Suggested that we have this positioned on the grassy hill under a tree for shade (after meeting note: suggest more appropriate position would be close to tree to benefit from shade but not under tree, so as to avoid sap stains to clothing).
6.3 Cemetery gates location. This will probably be determined by the geography of the cemetery paths.
6.4 Business Cards to hand out at Fun Day etc. JF has identified a low cost supplier of these.
