Minutes

1 - Chairs welcome

BT welcomed new members and outlined the evenings purpose: to discuss what the APAG roles involve, parameters and priorities for 2008.
NB BT will continue until March 2008. Any volunteers please speak to her.

2 - Treasurer KT

It was agreed that 3 members of the management committee would be needed to agree spending of funds – Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.

3 - Fund Raising Team Publicity:

Fund Raising Team
BM AND RF (not JF as previously stated)

Bristol Parks Forum Questionnaire to gather feedback on the park.
This has been circulated to all on APAG mailing list.

SWEET application
RF clarified that the Council agreed to match the funding provided, up to a value of 5% not £50k as previously stated.

Heritage Bid
RF still pursuing the Heritage Bid with BM. Has met with Old Sneed Park group (not School Park as previously stated) and thoughts are that we need a stronger anchor. To discuss with KT re history of the park and meet with Rachel Scholfield (Cemetary Trust), John Threadgold +/- BT and possibly a landscape architect to take this forward. BT to circulate 'A History of Arno's Park' to those involved once confirmed. RF to map what needs to be done, by when etc after 1st meeting.

SP mentioned that Rosie Tomlinson and Angela Porcini are keen to give an oral history and KT already has recorded Mike Swain.

4 - Head of Dog

Lizzie has agreed but is unable to attend meetings. Please let her know what needs to be done and she will try and organise.

5 - PR / Publicity: JT & SPe

SPe writing an article for St Christopher's church newsletter.

6 - Youth links: Position Vacant still

BT again expressed disappointment that the young people of Brislington have made contact with APAG and have not had an adequate response. RF agreed to help the young people write a bid (this needs to have them write it) for funds but needs help getting a group together. EC to approach Lizzie to organise.

BT to ask John Threadgold if the 'skate park' area could be cleaned out for this year's use as this was a priority for the young people. NB More clean ups in the park were done this past year. If unable to arrange we could consider holding an 'event' to do this.

7 - Community Venue Marketing /Event Co-ordination Team: SP & EC

KT informed the group that the scouts organised an event in 1958 where 1200 people attended. NB 2008 will be their 50th anniversary. To forward info to EC to consider asking the scouts to repeat an event this year.

Mike Swain talking with Brislington Football Club re a 50th anniversary match. Stan to ask Bristol Rovers Supporters Club to see if they'll consider a match.

Also there was a dog show 50 years ago. BT to let Lizzie know as may be able to organise another +/- dog wardens/RSPCA.

EC discussed licensing requirements for events with RF

SP envisages keeping a diary to co-ordinate events in Brislington and advise other groups re planning events in the park and stop clashes. Info to be put on website/linked with Brislington Community Partnership (BCP).

EC asked group to come up with ideas for events and people who may be interested in running. Main aim is to increase the awareness of the park rather than fundraising. Examples could include May Day event/Easter/Carol singing etc
Will try and link with local schools/care homes and BT volunteered to organise something once she has stepped down as chair.

8 - Cemetery links / development: PM

BT has a meeting with Rachel Schofield (Business Development Manager for the Cemetery Trust) early Feb. PM will try and attend if he is able.

9 - Neighbourhood Partnerships

SP new secretary for BCP. BCP to launch a home office initiative in Brislington that identifies things that need addressing in the community. These will be prioritised each month and agencies such as the police, council etc called on to feedback progress made. JN and PM will police. SP to circulate more information at a later date (also see BCP website) and details on how to have your say. Will let us know when key meetings are occurring so that anyone interested can vote – likely to be the 1st Mon of each month and venues rotated round Brislington.
